CCW Classes (Concealed Carry Weapon)

Approved Initial Permit Classes (8-hour) and Renewal Classes (4-hour) are scheduled monthly. Please check the LRC Calendar for upcoming dates. Classes are offered which satisfy the requirements for Placer, Nevada, Amador and Yuba Counties. The LRC is very fortunate to have multiple excellent instructors. Please validate that the particular class date you are interested in meets your requirements during your registration process.  You can have up to three handguns on your permit and you must be able to qualify with each.

Class requirements:
1) Must be a qualified County resident
2) Must be able to handle all the firearms that will be listed on the permit safely,
3) Must be able to qualify on an eight inch target at ten yards with ten rounds from the two handed standing position, a right one handed standing position, and a left one handed standing position.
4) Please Pre-register prior to class.

Equipment: Eye and ear protection, 50 rounds of ammunition for each handgun you want on the permit.

Location & Time: Classroom sessions are held either at the Lincoln Rifle Club Indoor Range at McBean Park in Lincoln or the Auburn Library. Shooting, as needed, is conducted at LRC's Dillman outdoor range. For added convenience some classes are scheduled to run only 4 hours, others will go the full 8 hours in one day. Check the LRC Calendar for dates, time & location. If our scheduled classes do not fit your schedule then private sessions can be arranged with the instructors.

Tuition: Class fees vary depending on class length (initial permit or renewal), instructor and location. Discounts are available on some classes for couples or retired persons.

Text and Materials: Some of the courses require you to read the textbook “Not Looking to Die” in advance of taking the class. Your instructor will provide information about the class requirements during the registration process.

Not Looking to Die (textbook)
Comments from readers: "practical advice, something I can put to use."
"Valuable book. You have done a good service with this."
Defending yourself with a gun, staying alive and staying legal all at the same time is quite a feat. This is an extraordinary book that tells ordinary, law-abiding citizens how to do it. Every story is true. The author was  a former prosecutor, and trains people for CCW permits.

The book can be purchased for $15 from the author by mail (Please make checks out to Grant Macomber) or from participating merchants below.
