CCW Classes (Concealed Carry Weapon)
Approved Initial Permit Classes (8-hour) and Renewal Classes
(4-hour) are scheduled monthly. Classes are offered which satisfy the
requirements for Placer, Nevada, Amador and Yuba Counties. Since the classes
vary with the instructor please validate that the particular class date you are
interested in meets your requirements.

NRA Basic
Pistol
This is the prescribed NRA basic handgun class that will teach you
handgun safety, marksmanship, proper shot fundamentals of sight alignment, sight
picture, trigger control,
breath control, hold control and follow through. Handgun nomenclature
for semi-automatics and revolvers. Class duration is 8 hours. You will need eye
and ear protection. We provide pistols, revolvers and ammunition for the class
(all range work is 22 rimfire). Pre-Registration Required.

NRA First Steps Handgun
The First Step class is basically the same as the NRA Basic Class except class
size is more personal and limited to one or two people and one model of gun. As
such the class is schedule at a time convenient for you and the instructor.
This is the prescribed NRA basic handgun class that will teach you handgun
safety, marksmanship, proper shot fundamentals of sight alignment, sight
picture, trigger control, breath control, hold control and follow through.
Handgun nomenclature and functioning for your handgun. Class duration is 3 to 4
hours. You will need eye and ear protection. You provide the handgun and
ammunition (100 rounds per student) for the class. Pre-Registration Required.

Action Pistol Class
This is an intermediate handgun class for those that wish to pursue action
pistol sports such as IDPA or USPSA (IPSC) or for starting preparation for CCW
application. Course covers Safety rules associated with action shooting, drawing
handgun from concealment, presentation of handgun to different quadrants and
positions, use of cover and concealment, shooting on the move, shooting from
cover.
This is a 4 hour range course. The course is being offered on a trial basis in
June, July and August of 2010..
Student must have a concealable centerfire handgun 9mm or larger, 4 or more
magazines or speed-loaders, magazine or speed-loader pouches, concealment type
holster for strong side hip carry, gun belt, concealment garment, and 400 rounds
of ammunition. Pre-Registration Required.
Personal Coaching - as arranged
Personal coaching is available through instructors at the LRC. This is on an appointment basis.
