CCW Classes (Concealed Carry Weapon)

Approved Initial Permit Classes (8-hour) and Renewal Classes (4-hour) are scheduled monthly. All classes satisfy Placer, Nevada and Amador Counties but not all satisfy El Dorado County.

Refuse to Be a Victim
Experts agree the single most important factor in surviving criminal attack is to have an overall safety strategy before you need it. LRC  schedules a seminar called Refuse To Be A VictimŽ, where you can learn the personal safety tips and techniques you need to avoid dangerous situations, and avoid becoming a victim.

NRA Basic Pistol
This is the prescribed NRA basic handgun class that will teach you handgun safety, marksmanship, stance, trigger control, follow through, sight alignment and sight picture. Class duration is 10 hours. You will need eye and ear protection, and 100 rounds of ammo.

NRA First Steps Handgun

The First Step class is basically the same as the NRA Basic Class except class size is more personal and limited to one or two people and one model of gun. As such the class is schedule at a time convenient for you and the instructor.

You learn handgun safety, marksmanship, stance, trigger control, follow through, sight alignment, sight picture for specific gun. Class duration is 3 to 4 hours. You will need eye and ear protection, and 100 rounds of ammo.
Tuition $35.00 per hour

Defensive Handgun
This class is consists of  two days of range work. It is designed to provide the novice to intermediate student with Jeff Cooper’s Modern Technique and the Combat Triad which consists of gun-handling, marksmanship and mindset.

You will need a handgun 9mm or lager preferably your conceal carry gun, a holster and suitable belt that fits to the holster, 2 spare magazines or speed loaders, ear and eye protection, and 500 rounds ammo. Email for more information or to schedule a class.

You must provide one of the following credential documentation to enroll in this class:

1. Current Conceal Carry Weapon Permit
2. Report of no criminal history from your local Law Enforcement agency
3. Proof of purchase of a handgun in California within the last year.

Firearms Safety
(Currently Not Offered)
The Basic Handgun Safety class is held at the Indoor Range in McBean Park. The class has been structured to introduce students to the mechanics and operation of firearms while placing heavy emphasis on safety and proper handling and storing. In addition to introducing new students to the topic, the class can provide seasoned shooters with a basic refresher course in firearm safety and operation. During the session, the instructor will review California gun laws and stress the responsibility of gun owners relative to the transportation, handling, and storage of firearms and ammunition. As time permits, the lab portion of the course will include limited firing of .22 caliber handguns in the indoor range. All equipment will be provided by the instructor, and students are not required to own or bring firearms to the class. The classes will begin at 9:00 am, and are scheduled to be completed by 2:00 pm. Please feel free to bring yourself a refreshment or lunch for the noon break. There is a refridgerator available. The cost is $25.00 per student. Women only classes are scheduled periodically. Personal Coaching - as arranged
Personal coaching is available through instructors at the LRC. This is on an appointment basis.
