Form which can be submitted via Internet)
Location: Dillman Rifle Range,
Match fees will be $10, with all
fees going to the LRC for range expenses and trophies.
Qualified Shooters must be able to
provide proof of prior competition in Practical Weapons Matches; Pistol, Rifle
and Shotgun Training at a recognized school (Gunsite, Front Sight, etc); or
active or retired law enforcement officers whose duties require them to be
qualified with pistol, rifle and shotgun.
Those not meeting these requirement will be required
to participate in the “Tyro Match,” a beginner’s test, prior to being allowed
to compete in these matches.
Matches will be open to both LRC members and the general public, first competitors to apply, until filled. Competitors will be limited to no more that 50. The Match fee includes a “Tyro” stage, which will be used to “safety check” new competitors and allow them to compete in all stages.
Each match will begin with a
Safety Briefing for all competitors.
(See Safety Briefing document)
The practical weapons sports were
developed from informal shooting matches that incorporated elements more
relevant in defensive shooting, such as drawing the gun from the holster,
movement, fast target acquisition and multiple targets. For this reason the actual stages of fire
will not be known to the competitor prior to match day. Each match will be comprised from stages of
competition developed and approved by the Match staff. Because of time constraints, this series of
matches will be limited to no more than 4 stages.
Each match stage will be briefed
before the competitor attempts that stage.
Descriptions of the stages will be posted, including a diagram of target
placement and target type, at the briefing area for that specific stage.
When actually competing in any
stage of fire, a Safety Officer will accompany the competitor.
Various types of targets will be
used during this competition, including both paper and steel
All competitors and match
officials, forward of the Dillman Range House, will be required to wear
approved eye and ear protection, a cap/hat with a bill or brim. No sandals allowed forward of the Dillman
Range House during actual conduct of the competition. It is strongly suggested that competitors
wear long sleeve shirt and trousers.
For safety reasons only lead
shot/slugs for shotguns will be allowed for competition against steel
targets. Handgun ammunition must be
loaded with muzzle velocities of no more than 1,200 fps and may be tested over
a chronograph by staff if suspected of exceeding these velocities. Rifle
ammunition must not contain steel or iron core bullets (test with magnet if in
doubt) and loaded to muzzle velocities of 3,000 fps or less.
Pistol – any center-fire
semi-automatic pistol or revolver with iron sights. No optics or compensators/muzzle breaks
allowed.
Rifle – any center-fire rifle with
iron sights except magnums. No optics
Shotgun – any legal shotgun. No optics
