Things are happening at the outdoor range! Several matches have begun, including Club Highpower, Adobe Walls Cast Bullet, and Practical Weapons. Come out and watch or better yet, sign up to shoot in one of our many fine competitive matches. Enjoy the camaraderie.

Within the next month you will observe some construction projects at the outdoor range. We are pouring concrete walkways and a parking area to bring our range into ADA compliance. Down range we are re-shaping some dirt berms to accommodate additional shooting bays that will allow up to four scenarios to be shot simultaneously. Thereby, shorting the time of particular matches.

The lead recovery project is still in the information-gathering stage. We will have specific news by next month. We are hoping for firm bids from companies that specialize in recovering lead from shooting ranges and then returning some money they make to our club.

The 100 yard berm was repaired April 5th by LRC Juniors member David M[Edit] who volunteered his time to operate a DONATED Bobcat tractor from Far West Rentals, Jeff D[Edit]. We greatly appreciate your time and expertise David, thank you! Also, thank you Jeff D[Edit] for your donation to the club of your Bobcat. We are grateful to both of you and value your contribution of time.

We are developing a new “Work Assessment” policy that will be presented to the board for consideration. It will include the number of required hours of donated time, the “time value” of materials donated and who will be designated or approved to sign/validate assessment forms. If you have suggestions please contact me or a fellow committee member.

We currently have a $300.00 donation toward the purchase a new flag pole and flag for the outdoor range facility. We are looking for additional monetary donations to help offset the cost of the new pole. If you can spare a few bucks then please donate at the next general business meeting. Our club needs a good Flag Pole.

We need an electrician to repair some of the 110V outlets at the outdoor range. (Nothing major but we need an electrician). If you are an expert in this field then please get in contact with either Phil P[Edit] or one of our committee members so you can volunteer your help (and earn work assessment contribution at the same time).

To better communicate with all members, regarding Range Committee affairs, please contact me at, [Edit] We would like to hear from members, and want their suggestions, recommendations, thoughts, etc.

As the daylight hours lengthen and warmer days are once again upon us there has been a heightened use of our Dillman Range both week days and week ends and our matches have once again resumed. With this comes the matter of reviewing our safety precautions. I invite all members to review the range rules that are contained within our web site and additionally posted at the range.

With seasonal changes we are also faced with “critters” that inhabit/use our range. Everything from turkeys and rabbits and some four legged predators, not to mention an occasional rattle snake visit  our range. Please remember to shoot at only approved paper targets (not the wooden frames). Remember shooting any wildlife will result in loss of membership and the notification to Fish and Game. Additionally that Penal Code Section 12028 and Fish and Game Code 12157 if fully enforced can result in forfeiture of your vehicle and firearms.

Along with the price of gasoline going higher every day, the price of ammunition has taken a significant increase. Many of us enjoy reloading our ammunition and take pride in the accuracy we attain in doing so. Just a word of caution, please adhere to the safety rules. Failure to follow good safety rules can not only result in property damage but can result in serious personal injury or worse. An excellent example of good reloading safety rules can be found in any Speer Reloading Manual. Please take the time to review these.

The modification of the Dillman Range Rule #6 to necessitate the use of breach flags in all firearms not in use has been received very well. Should you not have any, they are available with the Range Safety Officer.

Our gallant team of “weed busters” has done a great service to the club on two separate occasions. Their services are greatly appreciated. Additionally, a thank you to those of you who have donated your time and energy cutting the cardboard that we use in the frames.

Our hours of operation at the Dillman Range are posted on both our web site www.lincolnrifleclub.com and a telephone recording also has the days and hours for members, guests and public use @ 916-645-9350.

Thank you for your continued support and . . . .

Please remember to acquire your target in your sights prior to placing your finger on the trigger.
