News from the Club’s Board of Directors

By Barbara W[Edit]

We are happy to report that the automated billing process is nearly “bug free”. Thanks to all the patient members that have renewed during the past three months. Our next big jump in the process will be to set up automated credit card processing for all members wishing to pay their fees with credit cards.

The Board approved a project forwarded from the Range Committee to relocated and replace the Club’s flag pole at Dillman Range. As discussion proceeded relative to this project, the idea of an illuminated pole and flag was born. Besides just being a beautiful site, the illuminated pole and flag will become an i-con on Highway 65 that will be associated with the Dillman Range and the Lincoln Rifle Club. Good for the Club and good for the Country!

To encourage prompt payment of dues and fees, and to appreciate the membership that supports the Club, the Board of Directors voted to give a “Guest Pass” to each member that pays their Club dues and fees on or before the due date listed on their billing invoice. The pass will be returned with your new membership card, and will entitle the member to bring a guest to the Dillman Range FREE. This is a one-time pass and will be turned into the Range Safety Officer on duty in lieu of payment.

Mark your calendar for Friday evening, September 5, 2008. The Club is contemplating a fund raising dinner that evening in the Pavilion Building, here in Lincoln. The idea is to raise funds to support short-term improvements at the Dillman Range, to provide funding for a “war chest” that will help with the eventual relocation of the Dillman Range, and to help the Junior Program fund travel expenses for our shooting team and future champions. We envision a dinner, a raffle, a live auction, and lots of fun, food, and firearms. More details will present themselves once the decision to proceed is finalized.

The long-term future of the Lincoln Rifle Club remains a constant topic of concentration for the Board of Directors. The Executive Committee established to investigate possibilities is working on three specific scenarios. Although the housing market may have provided the Dillman Range with a respite at our Highway 65
