Club High Power Matches Are Starting UP The Lincoln Rifle Club has long been a training ground for new shooters. The Club High Power Matches were started a gazillion years ago to teach and train high power rifle shooters, so they could compete without embarrassment in NRA sanctioned matches. Over the years, we have lost all embarrassment, and we now enjoy Club High Power matches for the training, the competition, and mostly the fun and the pizza after the match. Club High Power is conducted at the Dillman Range on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month from April through September. The match is fired in two parts, with Standing Slow Fire and Rapid Prone in one part and Slow Prone and Rapid Sitting in the other part. The complete match is fired on the standard NRA 200 yard target. We begin to set up for the match about 1600 hours and strive to have the first relay in the firing position no later than 1730 hours. The cost to play is $1.00 per relay. Club guns are available for use at no charge, and CMP ammunition is available for purchase. We have shooting mats, slings, spotting scopes, and gloves to loan. The match is designed for center-fire rifles with iron sights. But, we aren’t proud. If you need a scope, use it. This is a fun match and concessions are made to accommodate new shooters and “old” shooters. For those of you that like to watch the show, but aren’t up for shooting, consider coming out and working as a “Target Puller”. This is a very fun way to earn your work assessment for the Club. Come join us. For more information, call Barbara at (916) 434-0308 |
