News from the Club’s Board of Directors

By Barbara W[Edit]

At the April meeting, the Club will celebrate the end of the first full year with a Board of Directors. The seven of us have made it through the first year, and are anxious to take on the second year. We still find that we have to “look things up” to be sure our procedures follow our bylaws, but as each month passes, we gain confidence and find that doing business is becoming more and more efficient.

For the past month, the Board has struggled with the budget and the cost of doing business. At the April meeting, the Board of Directors will recommend to the membership a dues and work assessment increase from the existing $40.00 each to $60.00 each. The recommendation will make the raise effective on May 1, 2008. We know that the salary for running Club Headquarters, and the Range Safety Officer’s salaries are expenses that must be paid. In order to keep the Dillman Range open as many hours as possible, a dues increase is required. The Board of Directors will have a full presentation on this topic at the April meeting. Even at $120.00 per year (the new cost, if you did not do a work assessment), the cost is only $10.00 per month. That’s cheaper than a box of ammunition. The Dillman Range is a beautiful and safe place to shoot and you can usually find a free cup of coffee.

Once again, the National Rifle Association’s Clubs and Associations Department has recognized the Lincoln Rifle Club for serving as a role model Club committed to fostering and promoting our Second Amendment rights. Our plaque hangs in the Indoor Range and 2008 marks the fifth consecutive year that our Club has been so recognized.

The Board of Directors continues to urge all members to contact us with ideas, concerns, opportunities, suggestions, and most of all solutions. We are committed to making the Lincoln Rifle Club the “best in the West”. Please help keep us informed by contacting any member of the board, or by contacting Club Headquarters at (916) 434-0308 or e-mail lincolnrc@sbcglobal.net
