This month begins a new era for our club.  Our Range Committee now has 15 members onboard; six club elected members and nine members appointed by the Board of Directors.  All Range Committee members look forward to working together for the better of OUR Club.

During our January meeting, we worked on finalizing the Club’s calendar for matches and events.  Many thanks to Jim for putting together our calendar.  Because we have so many matches, meetings and events the calendar was somewhat cluttered.  So we decided to present 3 calendars to our members.  One for Outdoor Matches, one for Indoor Matches and one calendar for meetings and social events.  Ryan volunteered to create the 3 calendars, which will be presented to the Club members at our next business meeting on February 7th.  In addition, Ryan will make copies and post them at the Indoor Range, the Outdoor Range and at the corporate office.

I wan t to remind all current and future Match Directors and Event Coordinators, that last year the Range Committee adopted a Match Application form.  All match and event applicants must complete this form to be considered for use of our range and facilities.  Applications must be submitted to the Range Committee by November 3rd.  I will be reminding everyone during the year.  Applications can be obtained at our monthly business meetings.  If you are interested in starting a new match please contact me vie email, ((Edit)) and I will put you on our Range Committee meeting agenda.  You will then have a opportunity to present your match to the committee for approval or disapproval.

The Dillman Outdoor Range has been experiencing some electrical problems with the lighting.  Together, Bob M(Edit)

and Phil P(Edit)  solved the issue by way of installing an additional circuit breaker.  Thanks to both of you!

During our meeting Leonard announced, on behalf of the Board of Directors, that the Board is directing this Range Committee to adhere to the Range Committee Charter that was adopted by the Board on November 14, 2007.  We assured him, the committee will act accordingly and in the best interest of our members.

R U M O R S!

Apparently a rumor regarding the removal of our 200 yard berm is circulating.  With a club our size, rumors tend to get out of hand.  This rumor is an example.  There are absolutely no plans of such.  We, the committee, can assure you that prior to any approval of range alteration, you as members will be notified in advance.  It’s OUR club.

Even though a large pine tree crashed through his home, during the BIG storm, making his home uninhabitable, Scott fulfilled his commitment to attend the Range Committee meeting.  On behalf of the balance of this committee, we offer our sympathy for your loss and we wish our best for your quick recovery.

Please use our ranges to enjoy the sport of shooting!

Be Safe and remember - Eyes & Ears!!

With ‘07 behind our club it’s time to both reflect and look ahead.  2007 certainly brought about changes that were initially frowned upon by some members.  I’m referring to the reduction of shooting hours and the necessity of an RSO in attendance any time the Dillman Range is open.  Additionally, the rule changes and additions cramped some member activities.  In the name of safety all of these changes were made after careful consideration by both your Board of Directors, fellow RSO’s and me.

Maintenance and improvements were accomplished with the assistance of those loyal and energetic members that can always be relied upon to step up when needs arise.  Thank you!  You know who you are.

2008 promises to be a great year for our club.  Currently, plans are in the formative stages to improve our facility, thereby keeping our shooting fraternity, the spirit of fellowship and the Second Amendment alive and moving ever forward.

Have a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year and remember . . .  Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot; know your target and what is beyond; and use only the correct ammunition for your firearm.
