News from the Club’s Board of Directors

By Barbara W(Edit)

Contact any director of the Club for additional information, and I invite you to contact me.

The Lincoln Rifle Club’s Board of Director’s continue to work hard to manage the business of the Club. The year 2008 brings the Club into its first year with an annual projected budget over $100,000. My how we have grown!

The Club’s new membership policies, established in May 2007, have slowed down the growth of the Club, however, I must say that the new members that are “toughing” it out through the process are very anxious to be part of the Club. Most of them have already completed a work assessment project and many of them have become regulars at the Dillman Range.

The directors have worked hard for the past 8 weeks to establish a 2008 budget. Our expenses have increased with the staffing of Range Safety Officers at the Dillman Range. Common sense will tell you that a dues increase is on the horizon. Our goal is to keep the increase equal to the immediate need. The Club was not able to put any reserve funds into our savings program this year and that doesn’t speak well of the Club’s ability to thrive in the future. Putting resources aside for longevity is a “survival” must.

To add insult to injury in the financial area, the Club’s financials were transferred from Quicken to Quick Books Non-Profit. My challenges have been many. Maybe I should have started on this when I was 30 years old instead of 60 years old!! Well, I’m catching on with a few “oops” along the way.

I continue to urge you to contact any member of the Board of Directors if you have things to share. Rumors come and rumors go. Most are well intended, but if you want to know about current events, talk to a board member. Good ideas are born when folks share ideas and concerns. The Board is elected to represent you.
