Text Box: After a long dry summer, fall is
finally approaching. The hunting
season is here as indicated by
the number of shooters
sighting in their rifles at the
 range. Range business is
good! The Board has been
busy. Two members of the
 Board conducted a meeting
 (on October 18, 2008) with
a majority of our current
Range Safety Officers. The
purpose of the meeting was
to discuss expectations,
range operation, and to
exchange ideas to streamline
our operations. I feel this was
a successful start to what will become a quarterly event.
The Range Safety Officers
serve a very important
function, as they are the
“face” of this club. Another
group of club volunteers that
have kept quite busy lately is the
Long Range Planning
Committee. Most club
members are aware that
the small town of Lincoln is
changing and plans for

Text Box: growth near and around the
Dillman Range have been
made. The General Plan for
the City of Lincoln calls for
the development of the lands
 near the range. The General
Plan will utilize a “village
concept” which calls for a
construction plan of combined
housing and businesses.
With this in mind, the Long
Range Committee was
formed to accomplish two
goals. The first was to look
at the future of our range in
its current location; the
second, to look at the range
relocation. The committee
has concluded the current
location of our Dillman Range
has a limited future, based
on the economy and
development schedules. The
Dilllman Range will eventually
need to be relocated. The
Long Range Committee is
looking into all the aspects
of developing a new range
and selling our current
property. To date, these

Text Box: plans have met with success
and encouragement. I share
this with you with the
understanding that the
Committee realizes this
anticipated move might be
considered a Herculean task.

I will leave you a strong
comment from both the Long
Range Planning Committee
and the Board of Directors to
act responsibly to preserve the
future of the Lincoln Rifle Club,
the Dillman Range and the
future of the shooting sport.
Also our immediate goal is
to keep our range open, and
in good condition. Any future
move to a new location will be
planned in a way that keeps
Dilllman Range available and
operational during relocation.

Text Box: BOARD OF DIRECTORS REPORT
Text Box: The Club’s Board of Directors continues to work on several important issues. Notable among them are reestablishing open hours for the Dillman Range once the end of daylight savings comes. Watch our web site for new operating hours or feel free to call Headquarters for current information.

Quarterly “Safety Meetings” have been established for our Range Safety Officers (RSO). These meetings are designed to provide an opportunity for all RSOs to meet and talk about new procedures, make suggestions, solve problems, and work toward a continued safe and friendly environment for our

Text Box: members. The Board of Directors realizes that our RSOs represent the “face” of our Club and as such deserve ongoing opportunities to interact with each other and with the Board of Directors.

Budget issues relative to our Long Range Planning efforts continue to challenge the Board. Creative solutions are still pending; however, investigative efforts into grants, loans, and gifts have started. The Board of Directors is committed to the longevity of the Dillman Range and the Lincoln Rifle Club and Junior Division. Knowing that homes will soon surround the Dillman Range on Highway 65, the Board of Directors has tasked the Long Range Planning Committee with

Text Box: efforts to relocate the Dillman Range. This endeavor requires an immense amount of planning and funding.
The Board of Directors continues to serve the membership of this Club. Please feel free to communicate with the board by calling Club Headquarters at (916) 434-0308, or via e-mail to lincolnrc@sbcglobal.net. Your questions, comments, or suggestions will be forwarded to any particular member of the board or to all members of the board with any level of confidentiality you request. Help us serve you by telling us “what’s on your mind”.
