2007 Junior Air Rifle Team

By Bill P(Edit) (NRA Rifle Coach)

The 2007 NRA National Junior Air Gun Championships were recently held at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio.  This event hosted an impressive 106 precision and 55 sporter competitors.  The California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA) sponsored both a precision and a sporter team to represent California this year.  These teams were selected by choosing the top four California Junior shooters in each discipline.  The selection process used scores from the state championship held in April of the year.  The Lincoln Rifle Club (LRC) also sent a second precision team to the event using the California Waterfowl Association (CWA) as the sponsor.  Our California teams relied heavily on the generous donations by our LRC members, families, friends, and local businesses this year.  We could not have attended the event without this crucial support and would like to thank everyone who helped make this trip a success.

Precision Team Results

The CRPA fielded one of the best Junior Precision Teams in a very long time.  Not only were they very accomplished individuals, these young ladies also managed a solid 7th place finish this year out of 23 Teams.  The team consisted of Kaitlin P(Edit), Brooke N(Edit), Jessica T(Edit), Rebecca T(Edit) and coached by Bill P(Edit).  They are truly looking forward to next year, where they can try once more to bring back a team trophy for CRPA.  Here are the top TEN teams for 2007.

Precision Individual Results

On the individual scores for CRPA - Kaitlen P(Edit) placed 2nd on day one and 3rd overall for the event.  With a combined score of 1184, she broke six national records, brought home five medals, and a coveted NRA National Junior Air Gun Team jacket.   (continued on page 4)
