News from the Club’s Board of Directors

The Board of Directors continues to work on the completion of the Club’s Standard Operating Systems Manual.

This month, the directors worked closely with volunteers organizing the Club’s new Training Program (s). As well as the Club’s traditional Range Rules Safety Class, membership in the LRC now requires candidates to attend an “LRC Safety Training Class”. The volunteer trainers are headed up by Margaret M(Edit) and the program will kick off on August 11th with the first class being held at the Indoor Range at 0900 hours. Tom F(Edit) will be the instructor, and he will have other instructors-in-training assisting him. Currently, we estimate that the class will be about 90 minutes long. There is no additional cost for the class. The costs of the class are covered by the Initiation Fees paid at the time of joining the Club. Any one is invited to attend to class, even if you are not a new candidate seeking membership in the Club.

The Board of Directors established new hours of operation for the Dillman Range. Unfortunately our luxury of shooting weekdays from sunrise to sunset has come to an end. The clay operation currently puts workers behind the 300-yard berm. A close call on August 2nd brought to the Club’s attention an escaped round that landed 900 yards beyond our firing line.

NEW HOURS OF OPERATION FOR THE DILLMAN RANGE: WEEKDAY SHOOTING CAN BEGIN AFTER 1600 HOURS. THE RANGE IS OPEN MOST WEEKENDS FROM SUNRISE TO SUNSET.

As a result of the August 2nd incident, the Board of Directors has also determined that a Club Certified Range Safety Officer will be on duty any time shots are fired from the Dillman Range. During scheduled matches, the match director will be directly responsible for the enforcing the Dillman Range Safety Rules. All other shooting activities will be under the direct supervision of the Club Certified Range Safety Officer.
