Cal was born "Raymond Calvin Smith" on February 23 in 1930 in Coffeeville, Kansas.  He died March 26, 2007 at his home in Rio Oso, CA.  He was 77 years, 1 month and 3 days old.  He served in the Marines during the Korean War and was awarded full military honors by the Oliverhurst Post #4095 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at his funeral in Nicholas, CA.  Cal was a family man and expressed frequently the importance of family and friends.  He was a devoted Patriot and a Benefactor of the NRA.  Cal spent many hours with his children and grandchildren participating in the Club's Junior Program.  He served the Lincoln Rifle Club as the Trap Director for more years than I can remember.  He was also the Club's match director for Sporting Rifle.  To my knowledge, Cal shot more rounds of Club high power than any other member of record.  He only missed an occasional shoot when one of the grandchildren had a graduation in June.  The Club honored Cal with the Zick Award in 2004.  Cal was a husband to Sue, a father to his children, and a grandfather to many.  He was a hunter, a shooter, a believer in the 2nd Amendment, and most of all, Cal was my friend.  He will be remembered with admiration and grace.   Barbara W(Edit)
