Text Box: The Range Committee will generally meet each month at 7:00 p.m. on the Thursday after the General Business Meeting at either the Indoor Range/Club House or Raley’s Meeting Room. Check the latest calendar or Webpage for the proper location. All club members are invited to attend. Next meeting is (10/10/06).

For the past few months the Range Committee, in coordination with the Club’s Range Master, have been conducting a range maintenance morning on the second Saturday of each month from 7:30AM until noon. We still have projects that need to be completed including the Disability Ramp and help is always welcome at these organized events. This is a good way to get your “Work Assessment” signed off for the year.

The Trap Binder and Trap House Key has been transferred to a Lockbox outside of the Dillman Range Office. All key holding Trap Shooters need to contact the Range Master.

Until we find other Club Member (s) to help run the Trap Machine, Trap shooting will be limited to the first Sunday of each Month.

We still need to remind individual’s using the club’s facilities to do so with care, as we continue to find signs of accidental discharges leading to property destruction and potential personal injury or death.

Remember, follow the safety rules for our ranges and keep your muzzle pointed in a safe direction and your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire your weapon. These simple rules would eliminate most of our accidental discharges.

Join us at your next Range Committee meeting, at 7PM at Raley’s Meeting Room.

Text Box: New Game in Town

Pistol shooters, have you been looking for a summer game to shoot your center-fire pistols or revolvers? Look no further.

Next summer, starting in June, on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday, through September, the Lincoln Rifle Club will be conducting Center-fire Pistol (Bullseye) Matches in the evening at the Dillman Range, starting at 5:30 with at least one relay, much the same as the Winter Indoor Pistol League we are shooting now with our .22 pistols.

These matches will be conducted under NRA Rules for Conventional Pistol.

These matches will consist of 60 rounds for record at 50 and 25 yards. The course of fire will be:

Slow Fire from 50 yards, 10 rounds in 10 minutes, twice.
Timed Fire from 25 yards, 5 rounds in 20 seconds, four times.
Rapid Fire from 25 yards, 5 rounds in 10 seconds, four times.

Five sighters will be allowed at both 50 and 25 yard ranges during a 3 minute time period.

Weapons will be pistols or revolvers, caliber .32 or larger, any sighting system with the exception of a sight that projects an image on the target (laser). This is a great match for those of you with .38 Special pistols, like the S&W 52, or Colt 1911 series pistols in .45 ACP, shooting mid-range wadcutter ammunition.

We are contacting NRA to see if they have a program that we can shoot, such as the Postal Match or a classification series. Once this has been finalized, we will publish the information on the Club’s web site. Even if we don’t get an NRA program, we will still conduct the series of 8 matches next summer. Entry fees will be $5 per match with awards being given in 2008 at our Awards Dinner.

These matches will be great practice for those that wish to compete in matches elsewhere or just to keep in practice for the Club’s winter pistol league.

If you are interested in shooting these matches or have any questions, please contact me at
practical-weapons@lincolnrifleclub.com or call me at (530) (Edit).

Bill P(Edit), Match Director.
