Text Box: The Range Committee will generally meet at the Indoor Range/Club House on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. All club members are invited to attend. Next meeting is (02/09/06).

	For the past few months the Range Committee, in coordination with the Club’s Range Master, have been conducting a range maintenance morning on the second Saturday of each month from 7:30AM until noon. This has allowed us to complete several needed projects at the Dillman Range including:
 replacing the target carriers at the 200 yard range with new lumber;
 replacing the needed screens along the firing line to deflect the brass from adjacent shooters;
 adding a red safety line, just forward of the firing benches, making it easier to keep shooters in a safe area during public shooting periods;
 reorganized the rifle target storage area;
 and added signs advising shooters to pick up their brass after firing.

	We still have projects that need to be completed and help is always welcome at these organized events. This is a good way to get your “Work Assessment” signed off for the year.

	As for future projects, the Range Committee Chairperson and the Club President met with a consultant from Action Targets and the Lincoln Police Department to develop preliminary information on the building of the new indoor range for the Club. It would be capable of handling all calibers of handguns and most rifles. We hope to continue with the development of this project in close coordination with the City of Lincoln in the future.

	We still need to remind individual’s using the club’s facilities to do so with care, as we continue to find signs of accidental discharges leading to property destruction and potential personal injury or death. Remember, follow the safety rules for our ranges and keep your muzzle pointed in a safe direction and your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire your weapon. These simple rules would eliminate most of our accidental discharges.

	Join us at your next Range Committee meeting, at 7PM at the Indoor Range, McBean Park.

structions for “Guest” and add your LRC membership number in the same box.  This will help us determine who the guest was with, the

amount of “guest” usage and help to better manage the Dillman Range in the future.  In addition, the Sign-in sheets now have a “Terms and Conditions for Use of the Range” listed at the top of the Sign-in sheets.  Please read these before signing.  The “Terms and Conditions for Use of the Range” were reviewed by the Range Committee, the Executive Committee, Club members who are attorneys and approved by the general membership at the January, 2006 CGBM.  All members, guest and the public must sign-in to use the range and agree to the conditions and abide by the Dillman Range Rules adopted in May, 2004.  If you and/or a guest does not wish to sign the sign-in sheet, you are NOT to use the range.  This includes matches, training, or other shooting functions at the Dillman Range and the Indoor Range.  The Match Directors will also be adding the “Terms and Conditions for Use of the Range” to their match sign-in sheets.  Signing the appropriate sign-in sheet is a condition to use the LRC Ranges.

       We have many items on our plates within the LRC and we need help to keep things moving forward and to protect what we have.  Please volunteer to help with at least one “project/committee” so that the load will be lighter for all the members and we can continue to have the safest and best Gun Club and range facilities possible.

       On March 4, 2006 the Foothills Friend of the NRA will be having their 14th Annual Dinner.  This is a great time to support the shooting sports, from hunting to competitive matches.  The LRC was just awarded a grant for $13,130 made possible by this and other such dinners in Northern California.  Half of all funds raised are kept in Northern California.  In the past several years, the LRC has been awarded over $60,000 for items like Club rifles for members use at matches or to practice with, for shooting aids and range improvements, training courses and many other beneficial items.  Please come and support this very worthy cause and one that has greatly enhanced the LRC and its facilities!

       I know I have covered a lot of items, but we have much to do.  Only by being ready for what may come can we protect what we have.

       Everyone have a great year and many happy days in the field and/or the range shooting.
