The membership categories changes are still being discussed and reviewed, but no proposal will probably be forthcoming for at least 6 months. Let your wishes and desires for the future of the LRC be known. Send your comments about possible membership or Club changes to the Executive Committee. In the near future we plan to form a committee to review your comments and make recommendations to the Executive Committee and the general membership. You may send written comments via the LRC web site (www.lincolnrifleclub.com) or to the LRC, P.O. Box 582, Lincoln, CA 95648. The possible changes in membership categories is being held off for now so that more comments and member involvement can be solicited. Second, with the change in the LRC By-laws approved at the October 6, 2005 Club General Business Meeting (CGBM), which changed the timing of membership renewals, we want to hold-off on any more membership issues until the transition in renewals has been completed at the end of 2006. For those that are not aware, the membership renewals are now being done in the month in which a member was voted into the Club. This will be the “anniversary date” for the annual membership renewal, thus requiring that many members pay a “pro-rated” dues for the first part of 2006, and then their full ‘annual’ dues in their anniversary month. Once the full dues are collected on the anniversary date, a member’s full dues will be collected every 12 months in the future. This is being done to spread-out the work load of renewals for the Treasurer and Membership Chairperson. Though there are some that may not like this, with the size the LRC has grown to in the past several years, something had to be done. All members will receive renewal notices at least one month before the month their membership expires. Members will be purged from the membership rolls at the end of the month following their anniversary date, if their dues are not received. We are beginning to look into the future of the Dillman Range, which includes such issues as lead clean-up and possible a “no blue sky” for the future, to extend the life of the range and other safety items and the like. These items will probably require that we build our Club’s financial reserves, as many of these items are very fiscally intensive. We will be looking at how best to raise the funds that will be needed in the short-term and especially in the long-term to keep the LRC a viable shooting Club and with range facilities to meet the membership’s needs and desires. A Dillman Range lead clean-up alone could cost in excess of $500,000 dollars. If you have not been to the Dillman Range, during the public or members only hours, we have new sign-in sheets.
