Proposed Membership Plan Submitted by Executive Committee Over the past years, there have been several requests for varying membership packages” for the Lincoln Rifle Club. With that in mind the Executive Committee proposes the following: Life Membership in LRC – This membership would carry a one-time cost of $1,000. Those eligible would need to be life members of the NRA, an LRC member for at least 3 years, and have served in an elected office for LRC. The benefits would include voting rights, Dillman Range gate key, no work assessment, and the newsletter. This membership package is, in part, earned by being a member of the LRC for a time and by serving the club. This could generate interest and participation in serving the club as an elected officer. Full Membership in LRC – This membership would carry an annual fee of $100 plus a $100 work assessment fee. Those eligible would need to be current members of the NRA. The benefits would include voting rights, Dillman Range gate key, and the newsletter. Work assessments would be credited at $20 for each hour worked. Hold on to your hats!! All existing members of the LRC would be “grand fathered” into this membership package if desired. This package grants key access to the Dillman Range. We all know that as the number of keys (and persons using them) grows so does the likelihood of accidents, misfires, and overall risk to longevity of the Dillman Range. This membership package will limit the number of keys available by limiting the number of “Full Memberships” available. As current members move away or decide not to renew, the number of “full memberships” will naturally reduce. This reduction will continue until the final number of “Full Memberships” is achieved. (That number is yet to be determined, but we are thinking of 400.) Range Membership in LRC – This membership would carry an annual fee of $30 plus a $30 work assessment fee. Those eligible would need to be current members of the NRA. The benefits would include the reduced fee for use of the Dillman Range on public days, the newsletter, and the right to be placed on the list for Full Membership in the club. Work assessment would be credited at $20 for each hour worked. This is where our new members begin!! An unlimited number of “Range Memberships” would be available and this membership package entitles its members to be placed on the list for Full Member |

ship if the member so desires. Family Membership in LRC – This membership would carry an annual fee of $125 plus a work assessment of $100. Each adult within the “family” must be a current member of the NRA. The benefits would include “one” vote per “family”, Dillman Range gate key, newsletter, and the children of the members could use the range WITH either parent present and are not subject to other guest rules. Work assessment would be credited at $20 for each hour worked. At last !! This membership package is basically a “Full Membership”, but with two adults. This membership level would count against our “Full Membership Goal”. This may be our largest membership package. Two adults (plus children) can join as full members for just $25 more than the cost of a single full membership. For families, this is a great deal. Business Member – This membership would carry an annual fee of $50. The business member would receive our newsletter and have no responsibilities to the club. The business package would require that the holder have an NRA business membership. To “sweeten the pot”, maybe we could offer the business member an opportunity to invite folks to the Dillman Range for a “Company” event once a year. Lots of possibilities here, we just need to think about them! Friends of LRC – This membership would carry an annual fee of $10. This package is for folks that are NOT members of the Club, so NRA membership, attending membership meetings to join and etcetera is not required. They would receive the newsletter; just to stay in touch. The motivation for proposing “membership packages” is the real or perceived problem that LRC is “out growing” itself and will eventually put itself in harms way. Although this proposed membership system would not limit growth, it would manage how the club grows. It would provide prospective members a choice in membership structure and the fees generated would support the club at its current operating level. The executive committee is open to ANY changes in this proposal. Any type of major change like this MUST be approved by a vote of the membership and if this proposal is going to be voted on, all members will be notified in advance. Let us hear from you on this issue. We welcome any comments, curses, or questions. |
