Hope everyone had a Happy Holiday season. We are off to a great start this new year, with membership pushing the 600 member level. Remember, it is now time to get your renewal in, no later then the March General/Business Meeting, to avoid having to rejoin the Club and paying the initiation fee all over again. Get those renewals in now.

The Lincoln Rifle Club and Junior Division Inc. Annual Member’s Potluck and Awards Dinner is on January 31, 2004. The dinner is being held at the Pavilion in McBean Park in Lincoln (across the parking lot from the Indoor Range), starting at 6:00 p.m. The eating will start at 6:30 followed by the raffles, awards and other fun activities. Plan on attending and bring the entire family. All members should have received a flyer with the details. If not, contact the Club at 916-(edit) for further information.

Many members still do not seem clear on what is required to get a Dillman Range Key. To have the privilege of using this range during normal workweek daylight hours: First one must be a current member, with a valid membership card. Second watch the required video, which is shown at 7:00 p.m., before the General Club Meeting each month. And Third have the completed form indicating that the video presentation has been attended. Fourth when all these matters have been taken care of, then see the Club’s Vice-President with all the above items and pay the $5 deposit for a key. Ron will be available at the end of the Club meeting to complete these transactions. Please do NOT try to get this process done during the meeting, as it is distracting and makes it difficult for others to hear the business items being covered. The rules for use of the key are included with the information packet available when you view the video and at Club meetings. The key use rules are also posted around Dillman Range, so if you are not sure please check them or ask someone. They are also on the web site (www.lincolnrifleclub.com).

Finally, elsewhere in this newsletter is information on the Foothills Friends of the NRA dinner to be held on March 6, 2004, at the Auburn Fair Grounds. In the past, the Lincoln Rifle Club has been given grants totaling over $50,000. In 2003 alone, the Club received over $15,200 for equipment and range improvements. This money is made available by the funds raised at the “Northern California Friends” events, like the one on March 6th. Please consider attending to support firearms training and education, and to have a great time with your fellow enthusiast.

See you at the Potluck on January 31st!.

Remember to follow all safety precautions while shooting, especially while at the Dillman Range! As some of you know the Forest Hill Range was shut down because of a stray bullet and a neighbors complaint to the County. Forest Hill members, the BLM and the County are looking for another location, so hopefully they will again have a range. Additionally, with the placement of the connex storage container downrange, there is a greater chance of a member being injured now! Vehicles and workers are not always visible while down there, please be sure to check that area before you begin shooting. The Range committee is working on a solution and will welcome any suggestions.

Questions about Hunter Safety Classes are being asked again, at this time the Club does not conduct these classes, see information elsewhere in this issue.

Because it could show up on our Website. If you want your Phone number and/or E-mail address to be included in the Newsletter, let the Executive Committee know. Complete the Information/Training Request at the end of this Newsletter and return it to the Committee.

The Annual Potluck Dinner and Awards Ceremony will be January 31 this year at 6:00 p.m., see the article by Julie (Edit) and plan on attending.

Also, attached to this issue is the 2004 Calendars as approved for all known shooting events. Please check it out and submit any corrections/additions to the Range Committee for approval.

I would like to thank Robert (Edit) for the donation of a filing cabinet to contain those necessary items to produce the Newsletter.

The club has the ability to accept Visa and Master Cards for payments, in addition to cash and checks. Advertisements are accepted when requested.
