Scores for the
Adobe Walls CB Silhouette match on May 12, 2007 27 Mike M (tie for
first) 23 Terry (third) 20 Bill 18 Loren 17 Mike V 6 Cy Velocity Limits: In order to give all shooters an even chance, actual velocity must not exceed 1600 fps at the chronograph because higher velocity gives a shooter an unfair advantage over shooters who are shooting plain base bullets. A chronograph will be provided. What a manual says does not count. If bullets damage targets, the shooter will be disqualified.
Tips for Optimum Accuracy: Optimum accuracy will be found at 1500 to 1600 fps with wheel weight bullets that have a length about three times the diameter such as a 170 gr. .30 caliber or a 250-270 gr. .38-55 bullet. For ammunition that will give best accuracy, suggested powders are 2400, either 4227, SR4759, IMR 4198, RL 7, Accurate 1680 and 296. These powders are suitable for plain base bullets at <1400 fps and gas check wheel weight bullets to 1600 (12-16 BHN). Starting loads with 2400 for gas check bullets are: 14 grains in 30-30 and 38-55 cases, 15 grains in 308 Win., and 16 grains in 30-06 to 45-70 cases. These basic charges can be increased 1.0 grain with 4227, 2 grains with 4198, and 4 grains with RL 7. Limited Number of Shooters: We can accommodate 16. Shooters who register in advance will not be turned away. Register by email. If we have more than 16 people who want to shoot, the non-registered people will draw lots to decide who gets to shoot.
Where: Dillman Outdoor Range Rules: NRA silhouette rules generally apply. Starting firing points will be assigned.
